Another amazing day, Sunday April 11 was a great day for S.T.A.R.T. and Rutherford Animal Hospital, our 2nd Annual Spay Day was a huge success. For the second year, together we accomplished our goal of altering 100 feral cats. Our volunteers, together with the Rutherford Animal Hospital, altered 102 feral cats from local feral cat colonies. Doctors, vet technicians and staff at Rutherford Animal Hospital generously donated their time and facilities to help with our mutual concerns and efforts of reducing the overpopulation of Feral Cats in our community.
Low cost appointments were offered at $35 per cat, for feral cats only. Cats were altered, ear tipped (see picture) , Frontlined and received shots, both distemper and rabies. Caretakers of colonies trapped and recovered the animals after surgery. This was a great opportunity for everyone, S.T.A.R.T., Rutherford Animal Hospital and local communities to help reduce the Feral Population!!
Thanks to all that spent their day off working at the hospital to make sure things ran smoothly and the cats came out of surgery without any problems.
Please be reminded if you feed them, you need to fix them!! Trap, Neuter and Return is the only proven way to reduce the population and help to end the starvation and suffering of feral cats

Save the Animals Rescue Team, S.T.A.R.T. has joined together with Rutherford Animal Hospital on Sunday, April 11th for SPAY DAY 2010 together we hope to alter 100+ feral cats from local communities. Doctors and staff at Rutherford Animal Hospital have generously offered to donate their time and facilities to help with our mutual concerns and efforts of reducing the overpopulation of Feral Cats in our community.
Low cost appointments will be offered at $35 per cat, FOR FERAL CATS ONLY. Cats will be altered, ear tipped, front lined and receive both distemper and rabies shots. Anyone interested in low cost appointments for April 11th will be responsible for trapping and recovering the animals after surgery. S.T.A.R.T., founded in 1991 by Annette Lamberti, is a non-profit humane organization whose mission is to rescue stray, abandoned, injured and abused kittens, puppies, cats, and dogs in northern New Jersey. The rescued animals are given veterinarian care, spay/neutered and cared for in volunteer foster homes. Volunteers also maintain sterlized colonies providing daily feeding, and controlling the population through our Trap Neuter & Return Program (TNR) for feral cats. These programs operate solely on private contributions and grants. S.T.A.R.T. holds weekly pet adoption at Petco in Totowa, PetGoods and PetSmart in Paramus.
